    Biography

The IMP-specific Year 3 Integrated Clerkship is based in Duncan, BC, and offers students an opportunity to complete clinical training in the 10 core disciplines in a community setting rather than in the more traditional tertiary care hospitals. As ICC Site Director, Dr. Paul Terlien manages the IMP integrated program and ensures students receive comparable clinical and educational experiences to students at other ICC sites in the province, and to students in the more traditional Year 3 clinical clerkships. Dr. Terlien also provides direction and support for Year 4 electives in the Cowichan Valley by assisting in the recruitment and orientation of local clinical teaching faculty and identifying local faculty development priorities.

Dr. Terlien graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and spent the first 10 years of his career working in government hospitals, mostly in Cape Town, gaining experience in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Oncology. He then practiced Family Medicine in Cape Town for a further eight years.
