    Year 1 & 2 Family Medicine Director, Family Practice

    The Family Practice course enables students to practice patient interviewing, history-taking and physical examinations under the direction of a family physician.   As Course Director, Dr. Fonger is responsible for planning and implementing local course delivery to meet the objectives and goals of the UBC MD undergraduate program.  This includes identifying, recruiting and supporting local physicians, lecturers and facilitators and collaborating with the UBC MD Undergraduate Curriculum Committee to assess delivery and evaluation for the IMP Family Practice program.

    Dr. Fonger received her MD from the University of Toronto and practiced in Victoria as a family physician for almost 40 years.  She has a long-standing interest in medical education.  In addition to her position as Course Director with the IMP, Dr. Fonger is Site Director for the UBC Family Practice Residency Program in Victoria and is a lead faculty member responsible for curriculum with the UBC Department of Family Practice.
