Thanks to the support of Victoria area doctors, all the current Island Medical Program students are connected to physician mentors whose role is to support them throughout their four years of training. Some meet for tea and chat, others share sports activities such as fishing or horseback riding. Students find their mentors are a great resource for helping them to survive the rigours of medical education. Many of the physicians say that they find it rewarding and invigorating to be involved in the mentorship program.
