The Island Medical Program has medical education facilities across Vancouver Island. At the University of Victoria, Year 1 and 2 medical students complete the academic component of their education. The clinical component is completed in the main clinical academic campus at Royal Jubilee Hospital (Coronation Annex) and in individual family physicians’ offices in the Capital Regional District. Years 3 and 4 of the curriculum are integrated into Vancouver Island Health Authority facilities, including the clinical academic campuses at the Royal Jubilee Hospital and Victoria General Hospital; the Affiliated Regional Centre at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital; the Affiliated Regional Clusters at Cowichan District Hospital (Duncan), St. Joseph’s General Hospital (Comox) and Campbell River and District General Hospital; and community-based clinical education sites in communities all over Vancouver Island.
Island Medical Program facilities across Vancouver Island are also used for training medical residents in UBC’s Family Practice and Regional Specialty Training programs.

Clinical education facilities across Vancouver Island
